I have realized that I really only enjoy writing reviews for books I loved, books I hated, and books that were SO close to being amazing, but did not get there. Within the realm of novels, especially of the romance variety, there are so many books that are simply fine. They’re a fun little read but didn’t really make me feel anything for the characters. This Book Was Fine is a monthly segment I will be doing so I can place those books somewhere. If you have any comments or want a longer review, feel free to let me know.

I love Meghan Quinn, I loved parts of this book, there was not enough angst or yearning for a forced proximity/fake dating. I liked their dynamic and I love a he fell first and harder, especially if he tries to “woo” her. But the ending fell flat for me.

I thought the concept of this book was really cool, but I wish it was more of a fade into a relationship rather than him pursuing her and then her being like straight from NO to instalove. Not a fan of the ending either but the writing itself was fine.
I will also be putting the occasional DNF because sometimes they’re just not it for me but may be okay with you (I’m sorry if I read 300 pages of a 500 page book and it still sucks, that’s enough to count as a book read)

Rating: ⭐/DNF at 240 pages
The characters in this book were the worst. There was nothing redeeming about the MMC, he read as a brick wall. The FMC was an insufferable inconsiderate person who did not have much depth. Very one dimensional which sucks because I usually love Lucy Score.

️So, I loved this book when I first read it. I have noticed that I really enjoy Ali Hazelwood’s books during the first read, and then they fall flat once I read them again. I really love that her male characters are scary but then obsessed with the female main character. But I wish the books were a little longer with better character development. They tend to fall flat for me because of this. I recommend The Love Hypothesis more than Love on the Brain.

The same applies as above. I think my main issue is that it goes from nothing to instalove regarding the female main character. I love how the characters are written in some ways but it does not dig deep enough for me. There are also less moments for them to get to know each other in Love on the Brain in my personal opinion.
